Welcome to my book section. We all refer to books once and a while to help us learn how to draw or just as a reference for those hard to draw things. Take a look at these books and feel free to drop a line or feedback on what you thought of each book. As you can see from the list there's a couple of authors I tend to lean towards. Their style works for me and maybe you find someone elses style works for you. Take time develop and explore. There's so much out there.

Draw Portraits in Colored Pencil from Photograph
by Lee Hammond

This book is my #1 reference for colored pencil portraits. Nobody explains it easier. Everyone I've suggested this book has to agree it's great. Lee Hammonds book Draw Family and Friends covers some of the same details as previous books but goes further into clothing and the entire body rather then staying to one part the face..

How to Keep a Sketchbook Journal
By Claudia Nice

This is a nice book to add to a library but I would consider purchasing both Creating Textures in Pen, Ink Watercolor and Painting Weathered Building in Pen, Ink and Watercolor before this book. This is a nice book but covers many of the things already covered in the books above. Mind you it is a nice book with a specific purpose "How to Keep a Sketchbook Journal".

Colored Pencil for the Serious Beginner
By Bet Borgeson

This is not one of my favorite colored pencil books. It does give you some insight into colored pencil but don't expect a lot of step by step instructions rather a broad view of the colored pencil artist. For a good read and some details other books don't cover this is good.

Colored Pencil Explorations
By Janie Gildow

I have not yet had a chance to see this book as it was new in December. If it follows the same style as her previous book it should be very useful to the colored pencil artist. See Colored Pencil Solution book for her other title above.

Animals
By Lee Hammond

Lee hammond has produced another good reference book. This book Animals she covers how to draw some of our favorite pets and animals from dogs to cats, rabbits and tigers. I find her book much better then birds and the realism created is back to her usual style. this book does also take into account more then just the Prismacolor Line of Pencils, she also uses the Derwent Studio brand showing there is more then just one pencil out there.
